We spent Mother’s Day riding our bikes and having a picnic. The trees with newly sprouted leaves surrounded us, the sun kissed our cheeks and these two children whom I am a mother to, took it all in as well. Sometimes I wonder if the degree that I hold and cherish my moments is of the same degree that my children do. And then I look back at the photos and hear whispers of past experiences – and then I know that I am not alone when I adore and hold these moments close.

Early this morning we chased the fog. I knew as I looked out my window and saw it hovering over houses and trees that I needed to pack up my kids and go. My sweet children yawned and rubbed their eyes as I ran around the room grabbing my cameras and pulling out clothes but when they sat in the car those tired little eyes turned into ones of excitement. The kind of excitement that comes with an early morning adventure.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live near such beauty and then I am reminded in times like these. The wind and the snow and the chill that makes us numb were all very present on this day but behind it all there were two people completely in love and there was a beautiful celebration to honor it.
