Lacey + Daniel

Standing in front of two people who are showing you their love, their true and honest love, the love that is only unique to them.. is a beautiful thing. I know I say it over and over but it is still amazing to me every single time.

Melissa + Eric

Melissa and Eric flew from Australia into Calgary just a couple days before their wedding. I was so excited to finally meet them and when I did they were exactly who I imagined them to be. Sweet with warm hearts. We walked about 10 minutes pass grassy hills and beside towering trees. The sun was soft and shined just the way I loved. It was only moments later when we noticed the clouds coming in. There was a “severe thunderstorm watch” that day but Calgary weather being unpredictable the way it is I ignored the warnings and smiled at the sun. I did however bring an umbrella with me just in case. I looked through my camera and saw the love, the emotion, the laughter that these two possessed. I then took a moment to look away and up towards the sky. My light.. my softly shining sun became a distant haze. The leaves on the trees swayed a little harder and the hum of the wind.. it was no longer a hum but more of a yell in my ear, perhaps yelling at me to seek shelter and to do it fast. Silly me. I looked back into my camera and clicked away and felt their love again and got lost in it. A trickle of rain landed on my lens. More trickling. Time for the umbrella I thought, and I continued to shoot, continued to get lost.

“Ow! Well that hurt!” Those tiny trickles turned into hail. Big hail. Hail that was pounding at us from every direction. My umbrella, my trusty umbrella, no longer served a purpose.

I have to admit we stood huddled under my umbrella with the hail striking at us (and spontaneously taking turns of shrieking “Ow!”) for a while before we started to make a run for it.

And that “run for it”.. that’s a whole other story. One that involves me running up a hill, bailing in the mud and ends in all of us soaking wet. lol. I really could not stop laughing because I felt like we were on the losing team of a reality tv show.

Thank you Melissa and Eric! I can’t wait to share your wedding!

Sheena + Jason

Sheena. She’s carefree, has the sweetest smile, is beautiful in and out. Jason. Very much the same and he adores her and holds her like he never wants to let her go.

I was so sad that I wasn’t able to shoot their wedding this past weekend but I can assure you they were definitely in good hands.
