half way there

20 weeks, 20 more to go! I am half way there with this pregnancy and Thursday is the big ultrasound. We are still deciding if we will find out what we are having, the suspense isn’t killing me just yet. My goal for the New Year is to document my family more including myself. I am hoping to reach the point where I can get in front of any camera and not feel so awkward. Wish me luck!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

“happy” by aidan

THREE years old is so different from two! Longer attention spans, more independence, a little more attitude and new milestones! You see, Aidan has this little craft table set up in our kitchen, his creative outlet. This is where he paints, draws, plays with play doh and not to mention a place where he is so distracted that I could easily spend an hour cooking dinner without any little hands tugging on my shirt or a hundred ‘why’ questions drilling my ears. Some of the things he loves to draw are vegetables, cars and people. Of course these all look like scribbles and he really is the only one that can point out what any of those scribbles are… yesterday he ran up to me and held up a piece of paper in front of his face and said “Mom, look!! I’m happy!!” and to my surprise, there he stood, holding a piece of paper with a “perfectly” drawn happy face on it.

calgary family photographer | the adams family

The Adams Family is the last family I photographed for 2009. With all the families I photograph, there is a similar bond that is present. The bond that parents have with their children, the bond between siblings… I feel so lucky to be able to capture it for them!

snow angels

Every year I look forward to Christmas and every year before Christmas even comes, I get a little sad knowing that once it’s all over the preparing, celebrating, excuses for insane amounts of baking, will come to an end. Nothing else to look forward to until Summer graces us, which will then seem like a lifetime to come. Today I bundled up with Aidan and played in the snow and as I watched Aidan pick up his feet in his boots that are a size too big and watched him lay in the snow to make perfect, little snow angels, I remembered that there actually is so much to look forward to and that it will be never ending. Thank you my sweet Aidan for constantly giving me little reminders, like this one. xo

calgary family photography | the sarich family

Don’t let that yummy light in the photos deceive you! It was actually windy and freezing the day we did these, but the Sarich family were troopers and completely embraced it, rosy cheeks and all! I could seriously write paragraphs long about how down to earth and how beautiful this family is but I will let you see for yourself!

Thank you so much Sarich family for spending time with me and I am so glad that we were able to coordinate our schedules to make this shoot happen!
